Born on 20th August, 1949, Alhaj Ashikhussein Rashid, underwent his formal basic education in Mombasa. He acquired his diploma in Electrical Engineering at the Mombasa Technical Institute, before going ahead to also get certification with Union of Lancashire and Cheshire Institute, as well as City & Guilds.

Alhaj Ashikhussein Rashid is a well known name in community leadership circles across the world, and especially prominent in East Africa and the United Kingdom. This sphere of recognition is in consequence and consonance of his well meaning contributions, not just from behind the scenes, but while presiding over positions of leadership, that have accumulated him much respect.

Seen by many as a philanthropist leader, Alhaj Ashik is a man of much action, whose personal desire and ambition to see things and projects actualize has made him a personality which the community at large values and regards with utmost prestige. And with all the necessary regard and respect to the role of meetings and conferences, his firm and personal belief has been to action the utterances of such meetings and gatherings. He believes in representation in equal parts for all the community members, and is a champion of the philosophy of “inward reconstruction and solidification” of community resources and reserves.

The ethos of Inward Reconstruction and Solidification arises from the plight of our brethren across the world where Alhaj Ashik is touched by the lack of attention towards the provision of adequate remedy to members of our Jamaat through adversities of society, economics, education, health and indeed culture.

A synopsis of Alhaj Ashik’s leadership profile, from which arises the crux of these philosophies is as per the below chronological role he has played since 1967, both at grassroots level and in leadership hierarchies:
